This policy explains what information gamersail.com (“Gamersail”, “we”, “us”) handles when you use it, why, and what you can do about it. Questions go to hi@gamersail.com.
In short
- There are no accounts: we don't know who you are.
- We run no ads, don't track you across sites, and never sell your information or share it for advertising.
- We set just one small cookie, which holds your time zone; if you follow games, your browser also keeps the list of them.
- Images load from IGDB and YouTube. YouTube's player loads only when you play a video.
- Our hosting provider counts visits in totals that contain no personal information.
What we receive
- What every request carries: your IP address, the address of the page (including what you type in the search box, sent to find games) and details of your browser. We use it to answer the request, to keep the site working and secure, and to fix problems. We don't store it in our own database; our hosting provider keeps it in its logs for a limited time, and counts visits in totals that contain no personal information.
- An approximate time zone, which our hosting provider derives from your IP address, so that dates show in your time until your browser tells us its own.
- The games you follow, as their ids, when a page that shows them asks for them. We use them to answer that request and don't store them.
- Your email, if you write to us: your address and message, used to reply and to deal with what you asked.
Cookies and storage in your browser
- The cookie
tzholds your time zone: your device's, or one you choose in Settings. It is kept for up to a year. - Local storage holds the games you follow. The list is stored only in this browser.
- Session storage remembers where you had scrolled, for the open tab only.
These are needed for the features you use, and none identifies you. When our hosting provider screens traffic for attacks or bots, it may set security cookies of its own. Apart from tz, we set no cookies.
Who else is involved
- Hosting: Cloudflare hosts Gamersail and handles each request on our behalf, under its Data Processing Addendum.
- Images: your browser fetches images from IGDB and video thumbnails from YouTube directly, so they receive your IP address and browser details.
- Videos: videos play in YouTube's player, which loads only when you play one. YouTube is a Google service; Google's privacy policy applies to it.
These providers may process information outside your country, under their own safeguards for international transfers.
Legal basis
Where a law such as the GDPR requires a legal basis, ours is our legitimate interest in running and securing the site and in answering you.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to its use, and to complain to a data protection authority. We normally hold nothing that identifies you unless you have written to us; to use these rights, write to hi@gamersail.com. You can also block or delete our cookie and clear this site's data in your browser.
Children
Gamersail is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information about them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will appear on this page with a new effective date. This policy is written in English; any translation is for convenience, and where they differ the English version prevails.
